A campus life, with students strong. Erupts in terror at break of dawn.
A gunman shoots the innocent. Who came to class was their intent.
Surprised and locked within a room. There is no exit from their doom.
A fellow student, whom they know. Seeks out his victims row by row.
With anger wild and rage within. No respect for next of kin.
The wounded and the dying left. He took his life; no one has wept.
We pray for those whose vigil keep. To heal their bodies as they weep.
We pray for family and friend. Who lost their loved one in the end.
May God bestow His presence, real. To heal each heart, our one appeal.
We thank God for campus life. For faculty, students free from strife.
Find hope and comfort in each hour. And trust in God’s eternal power.
Joined with a nation we express. God’s angels guard while He will bless.
