OUR CHILD RAN AWAY
Into her (his) room, at morning’s dawn,
We found there not a trace.
Our hearts were pounding, NO! She’s (He’s) gone!
What’s left is empty space.
We filled out each report with care,
The color of her (his) eyes.
Details they needed, we did share,
Complete with tear-filled sighs.
We waited, prayed, we paced, we looked.
We watched the clock with fear
We asked for strength, ate nothing cooked.
Friends came from far and near.
Oh, God, we trusted she’d (he’d) come back,
We knew not how or when.
Please keep her (him) safe, with nothing lack,
Your guardian angels send.
The Lord, our God, left heaven’s home,
Now home was Bethlehem.
He came to bring us to His throne,
Each child, His precious gem.
Now you have heard our morning plea,
To God our eyes we raise.
Will welcome home on bended knee,
Our lives with endless praise.
